Tubular Asset Management
Ontracks has developed and deployed a Tubular Asset Management proprietary configuration that allows tube and pipe inventory to be tracked by both feet and joints simultaneously. Out-of-the-box Maximo supports tracking of inventory in one measurement unit, providing only static conversions to other measurement units.
In the oil and gas industry where the number of joints stocked in inventory is just as important as the stocked length of pipe, it is crucial that IBM Maximo keep an accurate record of both measurements at any given point in time.
Receiving
A user may enter the number of joints received, in addition to the number of feet received. Receiving creates an inventory transaction that updates both foot and joint quantities available on hand.
Issuing
Upon issuing a tubular item, a user may enter the number of joints and feet to be issued. Issuing creates an inventory transaction that updates both foot and joint quantities available on hand.
Inventory Adjustments
In the event that joint counts need to be updated for an item in inventory, the configuration also includes a Joint Count Adjustment feature.
