The Maximo Minute: Bulk Data Load without Downtime

Welcome to the first of our new series, The Maximo Minute.

This series provides short tips, tricks, and configurations to improve your IBM Maximo Experience.

Today’s minute: Maximo Bulk View Hack

Using a bulk view, learn how to avoid an outage during a large data load, hosted by Tyler Charlton, a Senior Consultant at Ontracks, a Cohesive Company.

Taking an outage during a large data load isn’t always an option. If you need to consolidate two large Maximo implementations into one, Importing, the historical data may take days to weeks of load time.

Ordinarily, you’d have to remove validation from many of the fields and the target system to accommodate this kind of data. Items like past dates, all the sign is another historically relevant information need to move.

This may render your Maximo system unusable during the migration to keep the target system online during the process, consider building views of the objects to be migrated, essentially hitting copies of the target objects validation instructions.

You can make the needed changes to these views, then load the historical records through them, while users are still in the system.

As users go through their workday, the historical records will be joined to the new system without disrupting anyone.
